Inspiration and Autumn colors

Inspiration

I have been lacking inspiration for quite some time now, and I really hate when this happens. At the same time, I understand that it is something that occurs quite often to more or less everyone who has photography as a hobby, as well as to professionals. Instagram and other online media platforms are literally flooded with top-notch photos, making it feel almost impossible to get noticed or seen amidst such fierce competition. At the same time i dont really understand why i care, of course its nice to have interactions with other regarding ones photos but its not the main reason why i do photography.

Autumn

And then autumn arrives, and I went on a hike in Jämtlandsfjällen, located just north of the mid part of Sweden, where everything hits you with full force. Suddenly, I truly understand why I do this—to connect deeply with nature. It’s by no means easy to hike and do photography simultaneously, with early mornings and late evenings demanding your energy, and on top of that, you have to carry all your gear and essentials. But damn, those magical mornings when you wake up, look out, and see the sky engulfed in fiery hues, every leaf dripping with vibrant colors, and absolutely nothing to distract you—those moments make it all worthwhile. I didnt get many photos but if i normally take 500 photos 10 of them are really really good (Acording to myself anyway) And this few moments of breathtaking views are my main goal with photography. To show pwople there is something else besides TV and social media. In the mountains, where the birch tree are low and crocked due to harsh weather conditions, starry skies and northern lights dance above your head is where everything make sense.

Just do it

As Nike so elegantly says, if you ever find yourself feeling a lack of inspiration, just try! Simply go somewhere new and immerse yourself in the experience—you don’t really need much gear to get started. This time, I made a conscious effort to really minimize my photography gear and packed only the essential items listed below:

  • Camera Nikon Z6ii

  • 24-120mm S Line lens

  • 20mm S Line lens

  • Light weight travel tripod 850g

  • 4 Batteries

  • Powerbank

  • Remote shutter release cable

  • Basic cleaning kit

  • ND Filters

And it worked just fine, as expected. Of course, I do wish I had my full kit along with a really heavy-duty tripod for added stability and versatility. But on the other hand, if I had brought all that gear, I wouldn’t have been able to hike to these remote locations in the first place. So, it’s better to travel light. Being fast and nimble allows you to reach more interesting spots and capture great photos, rather than carrying heavy gear and missing out on the very places you want to shoot.

One of my favourites, the colors where just insane, i call this one Atomic Autumn

Took the why thru Norway on my way back and could not resist this beauty of mountain
